    Raksha Bandhan 2026

Not a rakhi. A whole ritual, boxed.

for the sibling who already has everything

A rakhi is tied in the morning and, by the end of the week, it is in a drawer or a bin. This is the opposite of that.

Ten pieces of handmade seed paper — a colouring book, a notebook, bookmarks, coasters, postcards, cards — built around a cotton-thread rakhi with its own roli-chawal tilak set, all handmade in Agra. He uses them for months. Then every one of them goes into soil and grows.

    Use it. Then grow it.

There's no rush. Each piece plants whenever it's finished being useful.

    1. 1

      Use it

Write, colour, send, wrap. Months of it.

    2. 2

      Soak

When a piece has done its job, soak it in water.

    3. 3

      Plant

Under a thin layer of soil, about 5mm.

    4. 4

      Grow

Water daily. First sprouts in 7–14 days.

All ten pieces — and what they're made of

Every one of them handmade seed paper. Every one of them plants.

    1. 1

Seed paper rakhi + greeting card

Handmade from upcycled cotton waste, seeded, tied on braided cotton thread.

    2. 2

      The Earth Conscious Mandala

A full plantable colouring book. Traditional mandala patterns on seed paper — colour a page, then plant that page.

    3. 3

      A seed paper notebook

Seed paper cover, recycled paper inside. For the sibling always scribbling something.

    4. 4

      Seed paper coasters × 5

Genuinely useful. Genuinely plantable once they've retired.

    5. 5

      Seed paper bookmarks × 8

Enough to keep some and hand a few out.

    6. 6

      Seed paper postcards × 4

For the sibling who still believes in actual mail.

    7. 7

Seed paper gift tags × 8

For every other gift they wrap this year.

    8. 8

Seed paper gift envelopes × 5

Shagun envelopes that don't end up in the bin.

    9. 9

      Thank-you cards × 4

      With plantable envelopes to match.

    10. 10

      A pocket notepad

      Small enough to actually carry.

None of it is filler — it's stationery he'll actually reach for.

The women who make our paper

In Agra, a team of women turn cotton waste into the paper your rakhi is made from. For many of them it was the first job that came with a bank account in their own name.

And it goes all the way down

Even the ink is water-soluble. Even the box composts. The workshop runs on solar.

    And then —

    Then it plants too.

Every piece — colouring book, notebook, bookmarks, cards — plants the same way once it's done its job. Soak it, plant it under 5mm of soil, water daily. None of it has to end up in a bin.

    Good to know

Do I have to plant all of it at once?

Not at all — use the stationery normally and plant each piece whenever it's done its job. Some people take months.

    Is the packaging eco too?

Yes — wood-free, water-soluble dyes, biodegradable. Full material list on our materials page.

Is this traditional or just a modern eco product?

Traditional. A handmade cotton-thread rakhi with roli and chawal, in a box of handmade seed paper stationery — closer to how these things were made before plastic took over.

    Is it kid-safe?

Yes — cotton, paper and seeds throughout.

What exactly is in the box?

Ten plantable pieces: seed paper rakhi + card, the Earth Conscious Mandala colouring book, a notebook, 5 coasters, 8 bookmarks, 4 postcards, 8 gift tags, 5 gift envelopes, 4 thank-you cards with envelopes, and a pocket notepad.

    How do I pay?

Prepaid checkout only — UPI, cards or net banking.
